In short

Definitions, because this word is being used loosely
Almost everything currently sold as an AI agent course teaches somebody to write better instructions to a product. That is a real skill and it is not this. Here is the distinction drawn tightly enough that you can hold us to it.

The row that matters is the last one. A script is told the steps. A chatbot is told the words. An agent is told the goal and works out the steps itself, which is precisely why it is powerful and precisely why it is dangerous. A program that chooses its own actions can choose wrong ones, and it will do so with exactly the same fluency it uses when it chooses right ones.
So the engineering question in this subject is not how to make an agent do something impressive. Any teenager can do that in an afternoon now, and a great many are. The question is how to build one whose mistakes are visible, which turns out to be most of the work and almost none of the marketing.
That is why this course sits at rung four rather than rung one. A student who cannot yet handle data has no way to check what their agent did. A student who has never measured a model's error has no instinct for the fact that confident output and correct output are different things. Put an agent in their hands first and you produce somebody who can demonstrate and cannot debug.
The order and the ages are set out on the Python to AI roadmap. If your child has been producing code with an AI tool and you are unsure whether that counts as learning, start instead with vibe coding versus building AI.
What a student actually builds
The build below is done in Python. It is deliberately small, because a small agent whose every decision can be inspected teaches more than a large one that mostly works.
Almost every bad agent starts as a badly stated goal. Summarise my emails is not a goal, it is a wish; it contains no test of success and no boundary. The student rewrites it until a stranger could tell whether the agent had achieved it, and that rewriting is where most of the thinking happens.
A tool is a function the agent may call: read a file, search a list, do a calculation. The student writes each one by hand so they know precisely what it can touch. Handing an agent a general purpose capability because it might be useful is how a student ends up with a program whose reach they cannot describe.
The agent proposes its steps and stops. The student reads the plan. This single pause catches most of the disasters and it is the habit we most want to install, because it is the professional practice too: nobody sensible lets an autonomous system act on a plan nobody read.
A maximum number of steps, a fixed set of tools, and a hard stop on anything that looks like a loop. Students discover why this matters by building an agent without bounds first and watching it spend twenty minutes going in a circle, which is a much better teacher than being told.
Each step recorded: what it decided, which tool it called, what came back, and what it concluded. This log is the deliverable as much as the agent is. An agent without one is not inspectable, and an uninspectable system cannot be improved, only replaced.
The student feeds it something it cannot handle: contradictory data, a missing file, a tool that returns nonsense. The correct behaviour is a clear stop. The common behaviour is to carry on and produce something plausible. Finding that boundary, and writing it into the README, is the last step.
Bounded. An agent must have a limit it cannot exceed: a number of steps, a set of tools, a budget. An unbounded loop that calls a model is not a design, it is an accident waiting for a slow afternoon.
Legible. Every decision it took must be recoverable afterwards. If a student cannot answer why did it do that, they have not built a system, they have acquired a pet.
Loud in failure. The default behaviour when something goes wrong must be to stop and say so, not to continue plausibly. Quiet failure is the single most expensive property software can have, and agents are unusually good at it.
Agent building sits inside the main AI and machine learning track for teenagers, which is the ordinary group route at USD 100 a month. There are also two dedicated strands. The coding agents course works with Codex and Claude Code and asks the student to review what the agent produced, line by line; it requires a subscription to the tools involved.
The Copilot Studio courses cover building and governing agents on Microsoft's platform, and are taught one to one only, so they are priced as private teaching. Deeper still, the generative AI masterclass covers retrieval, grounding and agent constraint at university level.
The taxonomy students learn to recognise
These are taught as named things, because a failure with a name is one a student can look for. Every one of the four is demonstrated deliberately during the course, on the student's own agent, before it is explained.
The agent decides on a step, the step does not achieve the goal, so it decides on the same step again. Symptom: nothing visibly wrong, and twenty minutes gone. This is why the step budget exists, and students who have watched it happen never omit one again.
Asked to do something it has no tool for, a model will frequently invent the call rather than report the gap. Symptom: an error about a function nobody wrote. The fix is a validation layer that checks a proposed call against the actual tool list before executing anything, and it is about fifteen lines.
The most instructive failure of the four. The agent does exactly what it was told, and what it was told was not what was meant. Symptom: a perfect result that is useless. There is no technical fix; the fix is the discipline of writing a goal a stranger could test, which is step one of the build for exactly this reason.
A tool returns nothing, or nonsense, and the agent carries on and produces a fluent summary anyway. Symptom: nothing at all, until somebody checks. This is the expensive one, it is the one commercial systems get wrong most often, and it is why every agent a student here builds must stop and say so rather than continue plausibly.
A student who can name those four and point at where each is handled in their own code has something genuinely uncommon at sixteen, and it is a great deal more durable than familiarity with whichever agent framework happens to be current. Frameworks are replaced roughly annually. The four failure modes have been the same since people started building these systems and will still be there when the current tools are historical footnotes.
The uncomfortable part
Every agent a student builds here operates on data the student controls, in an environment the student can reset. It does not send messages on anybody's behalf, spend money, or touch an account belonging to a real person or organisation. That is a teaching decision and it is not negotiable.
The reason is simple. The skill being taught is judgement about consequence, and judgement is learned by making mistakes. A student must be free to build something that fails badly, look at the wreckage, and understand why. That freedom is only safe when the blast radius is a sandbox.
What that produces is a learner who has genuinely watched an agent go wrong and can explain the mechanism, rather than one who has only seen the polished demonstrations. In our experience that is the difference between a student who is impressed by these systems and one who is useful around them.
It also produces something you can look at. Every build ends in a repository with the agent's decision log, a written note of its limits, and an honest account of the case that broke it. That is the subject of build real AI projects, and it is the rung most courses skip entirely.

Questions about agents
No, and the distinction is the reason this page exists. Prompting is composing a request to a finished product. This is writing the program that sits around a model: deciding what tools it may call, how many steps it may take, what gets logged, and what happens when something returns nonsense. A student finishes able to explain why their agent did what it did, which is not a question prompting can answer.
Thirteen upward in practice, and it depends on the two rungs beneath rather than on the birthday. A student needs Python they wrote themselves and some experience handling data that was not tidied for them. Without those, an agent is a black box they can operate and not inspect, which is the opposite of the point. Younger children start further down the ladder and usually reach this within a year or two.
The core work is plain Python, deliberately, because a student who has written the loop themselves understands every framework afterwards. On top of that there are two dedicated strands: one working with Codex and Claude Code as coding agents, and one on Microsoft Copilot Studio. The Copilot Studio courses are taught one to one only. The coding agents strand needs the student to hold subscriptions to the tools it uses.
Never, and this is not a limitation we are apologetic about. Every agent operates on data the student controls, in an environment that can be reset. Learning judgement about consequence requires being free to fail badly, and that is only safe when nothing outside the sandbox is reachable. Students leave understanding exactly why that boundary exists.
A group batch of five to eight students is USD 100 a month and one to one teaching is USD 150 a month, billed in US dollars, the same flat figures everywhere outside India. There is no enrolment fee, no annual contract, and the first class is free without a card.
Probably more useful, not less. The transferable content is not the syntax, it is the discipline of stating a goal precisely enough to be testable, bounding what a process may do, and keeping a record that lets somebody else audit a decision. Those are the same habits that make a good experimental scientist or a competent project manager, and they are unusually hard to acquire anywhere else at fifteen.
Indirectly and honestly not immediately. Nothing here is on an Omani school certificate, and we will not claim otherwise. What it tends to change is how a student approaches an open-ended assignment, because they have practised breaking a vague objective into checkable steps. Several parents have reported that as the first visible effect, well before anything technical shows up.
Then they start on rung one and arrive here later, which is the normal path rather than a setback. The free first class exists to find out where they actually are, and if the answer is that agents are eighteen months away, that is what we will tell you. Selling somebody a course their child cannot yet use is a bad trade for everybody.
Yes, and adults are a substantial part of the agent intake. Ages six to sixty-seven are taught. The usual adult goal is automating something specific at work, which suits one to one because the syllabus can bend entirely around the task, and it typically finishes within a few months.
A mentor rings you at an Omani hour to arrange the free session. No card is requested and nothing is charged. Sending the form starts a conversation rather than an enrolment and holds no place in any batch. Which rung the learner starts on, the format and the evening are all settled on that call before money is discussed.

The free first session is a lesson rather than a sales call. A learner attempts one problem and the teacher reads how they go about it, which tells us whether the two rungs beneath agents are in place. If they are, this course is where they start.
