Counting is the most trusted operation in any dataset because it feels like it cannot go wrong. Every row is worth one, the arithmetic is exact, and the result is a whole number nobody argues with. What gets lost is that a count is only a measure of quantity when the things counted are interchangeable, and things almost never are. Ask which district has more secondary education and a model will reach for the countable column, because that is what a count is for and because fifteen is obviously more than nine. The answer will be confident, arithmetically flawless and wrong: Delfshaven has fifteen establishments teaching 4,765 pupils and Prins Alexander has nine teaching 5,860.
