What are the best coding classes in Bidbid?
Bidbid is recorded as having 40 towers scattered across its villages. How many villages is not recorded anywhere, so every towers-per-village figure is really a guess wearing a decimal point. We teach coding, Python, AI and mathematics online to anyone aged 6 through to 67. The first class is free. After that, a month of group tuition is USD 100 and a month one to one is USD 150.

The wilayat is credited with 40 towers scattered in different villages. The towers are counted. The villages are not. Anybody who wants a rate has to invent the half that is missing, and inventing it is easy enough that people rarely notice they did.
The wadi running through here divides its banks into two parts, lined with date palms. A settlement on two banks is one place or two places depending on who is filling in the form, and that choice quietly changes any denominator built from it.
People come to Fanja's souq from the surrounding villages to buy and to sell locally made handicrafts. Who counts as being from here is a question the market does not ask and a statistician cannot avoid.
A numerator is a fact and a rate is an argument
Forty towers is a fact somebody went and counted. Two towers per village is a claim about a quantity nobody counted at all. The two look alike on a page, they print to the same width, and only one of them can be checked against anything.

Wadi Fanja divides its banks into two parts and is surrounded by date palms and other trees. Geography that splits a settlement is geography that will eventually split a row in somebody's table.
Buyers and sellers come to Fanja's souq from neighbouring villages with locally made handicrafts. That the market has a catchment wider than the village is exactly why village counts and market counts should never be used interchangeably.
One population database lists Fanja, in Bidbid, under more than one governorate across its own pages. Bidbid is a wilayat of Ad Dakhiliyah. That a reference work disagrees with itself about where a village sits is the plainest possible argument for checking a denominator before dividing by it.
None of this is a claim about Modern Age Coders and no association with any of it is implied. Bidbid is here because it publishes a clean numerator and no denominator, which is the exact shape of the mistake the project teaches.
Nobody has to lie, misread anything or make an arithmetic slip for this to go wrong. They only have to fill in the number that was never given.

Forty towers is a fact and towers per village sounds like an insight. Producing the second from the first needs a village count, so one gets chosen, usually silently and usually from a rough sense of how big the place is.
Between 8 and 35 villages the rate runs from 5.00 down to 1.14 towers per village. That is a 4.4-fold spread. Every value is arithmetically correct, every one would survive review, and the published data cannot distinguish between them.

A rate of 2.00 looks like a finding. It is round, it is plausible, and it is the one a reader is least likely to question, which makes it the likeliest to be repeated and the hardest to retract. Nothing about it is more true than 1.14 or 5.00. Every figure above was computed before this was written, and no village count for Bidbid appears anywhere on this page, because none was found.

Forty counters and a handful of empty boxes, with the child choosing how many boxes before sharing them out. Doing it twice with different box counts makes the point faster than any explanation, and it needs no screen at all.
Python computes the rate across every village count from 8 to 35 and prints the whole range. The learner then writes a function that refuses to return a rate unless it is given a sourced denominator, and tests that it refuses.
Derived figures are marked as derived, assumptions are written into the text rather than the footnotes, and any rate without a cited denominator is reported as a raw count instead.
The tower count, the fort restoration, the named aflaj, the wadi and the souq are published. The six village counts in the project are explicitly assumptions and are labelled as such in the table itself, because no village count for Bidbid was found in any source consulted for this page.

Towers in different villages means learners in different villages. A lesson that travels down a connection is the only version of this that does not privilege whoever lives nearest the main road.
