Degrees are not kilometres

Latitude and longitude are angular coordinates. Longitude degrees represent different ground distances at different latitudes.

Haversine gives about 14.95 kilometres

The formula accounts for Earth's spherical shape sufficiently for this teaching lower bound, but it still draws across all intervening terrain.

The route graph gives 28.8 kilometres

The fictional road path follows three traversable edges. Its total can legitimately exceed straight surface separation.

No real place is encoded

The points, nodes, lengths and obstacles are invented and intentionally do not claim a Khasab, Bukha, Dibba or Madha route.

Mode changes the graph

A road query, walking query and marine query allow different edges. Mixing them can manufacture an impossible route.

Validate coordinate order

Swapped latitude and longitude may remain numerically valid while placing a point far from the intended area.
