AI and programming classes in Marion

How can Marion learners get reliable results from AI on multi-step tasks?

By splitting the task into a chain of small steps, each with an output they can check, instead of asking for everything at once. Children start with Scratch at six; teenagers and adults combine Python with AI tools. Marion had 4,101 residents at the 2021 Census.

What share of the scheduled stop visits in Marion are by train? Asked in one go, our scripted model answered 5.6%. Asked as four linked steps, each producing something we could check, it answered 7.3%. The one-step answer had quietly counted every day in a six-month timetable.

Facts last verified 13 October 2026. Teaching is online; no Marion branch is claimed.

Young people

Marion counted 274 residents aged 15 to 19, 171 aged 10 to 14 and 154 aged 5 to 9.

Older residents

Residents aged 85 and over numbered 278, 6.8% of the suburb.

Area

The ABS boundary of Marion covers about 2 square kilometres in Adelaide's south-west.

The ABS adds slight random noise to small Census cells, so these numbers stay exactly as published and are not combined.

Signature project

One big prompt, or four small ones?

The question was put to a scripted model that could query the Adelaide Metro timetable. First as one request; then as a chain of four, where each step's output became the next step's input and could be checked on the way.

Where it went wrong

The timetable lists trips for every service pattern from October 2026 to April 2027. Without a day filter, weekdays, weekends and school-only trips are mixed, and trains and buses are not mixed in the same proportions.

Why chaining helped

Step 2 had to say which day it used. A missing date is obvious when a step's output is printed on its own, and invisible inside a single final number.

Checks between steps

The mode counts in step 3 must add back to the step 2 total. They do, which is our own arithmetic on our own counts, not on published figures.

The principle

Prompt chaining breaks a task into stages small enough to verify. Each stage has a clear input, a clear output and a test. It costs more requests, and it turns a confident wrong number into a traceable right one.

The timetable is Adelaide Metro open data, feed version 1708. Marion membership is our point-in-boundary check, and every count is ours. The model in this project is a script we wrote to show the two approaches; it is not a transcript of any commercial AI system.

AI workflows

Designing a chain

Good chains share a few features, whether the steps are prompts, Python functions or both.

Primary learners

Follow a recipe one step at a time and taste after each step, instead of mixing everything at once.

Secondary learners

Ask an AI the Marion question both ways, record each step's output, and find where the one-step answer drifted.

Adults

Redesign a long work prompt as three or four steps with a check between each.

Chaining is not always worth it. For a simple lookup one prompt is fine. The more steps a task hides, filters, joins, grouping, arithmetic, the more chaining pays for its extra requests.

If AI can answer in one go, why break it up?

Because one-go answers hide their assumptions, and some assumptions are wrong.

A single prompt about Marion's trains returns a tidy percentage. Nothing in it reveals that every day of a six-month timetable was counted together. The number is precise to one decimal place and still wrong.

Learners who have built the chain themselves know to ask for intermediate outputs and to check that parts add up to wholes. That habit turns AI from an oracle into a tool they can audit.

In Marion, the learner who chains and checks gets 7.3%, and can show why. The longer argument is in why teenagers should still learn to code in 2026.

FAQ

Marion AI and programming questions

Questions Marion families and adult learners ask.

How many people live in Marion, SA?

The 2021 Census QuickStats count 4,101 residents in the suburb of Marion, with 1,790 private dwellings and a median age of 43.

What is prompt chaining?

Splitting a task for an AI model into a sequence of smaller prompts, where each step's output feeds the next. Each step is easier to get right and to check.

When is prompt chaining worth it?

When a task hides several operations, such as filtering, grouping and calculating, or when a wrong answer would be costly. For simple lookups a single prompt is usually enough.

What share of Marion stop visits are by train?

By our count of the Adelaide Metro timetable for Wednesday 21 October 2026, 117 of 1,593 scheduled visits at stop records inside Marion were by train, 7.3%.

Can young children learn about AI?

Yes. From six they explore AI ideas through Scratch games; building and checking real models usually starts around thirteen.

Do teenagers use Claude in our courses?

No. Claude-based courses are for adults aged 18 and over only; teenagers use other AI tools.

Is there a classroom in Marion?

No. Lessons are live online only, we have no Australian office, and our listed phone number is Indian.

What do lessons cost for Marion learners?

The first lesson is free. Group classes cost USD 100 a month for two live lessons a week, about eight a month, in groups of fifteen to twenty, and one-to-one classes cost USD 150 a month. You agree the course and time before paying.

Who is in each group?

Fifteen to twenty learners at a similar level and pace, not sorted by age or suburb. One-to-one lessons suit anyone no group time fits.

Will Marion group classes include Copilot Studio?

No. Copilot Studio is taught one to one only; group learners build agents in Python.
