Modern Age Coders provides live one-to-one online IB Maths tutoring across the UAE — Analysis & Approaches (AA) and Applications & Interpretation (AI), at Standard and Higher Level — including support with the Internal Assessment exploration.
We teach the concepts properly, coach the GDC and Paper 1/2/3 technique, and keep the same IB-experienced tutor throughout. Pricing is USD 100 per month (about AED 370) for eight 1:1 sessions, lessons run in Gulf Standard Time, and the first session is free.
The IB rewards understanding and communication — not memorised methods.
IB Maths, especially at HL, is one of the toughest courses a UAE student will take. It moves fast, expects genuine conceptual understanding, and — unlike some systems — asks students to interpret, justify and communicate, not just compute. A student who survived earlier years on memorisation hits a wall here.
On top of the exams sits the Internal Assessment: a 20%-weighted exploration that demands a good topic, real mathematical depth, and clear writing — something many students have never been taught to produce.
And choosing wrong between AA and AI, or SL and HL, can quietly cost a student grades and university options — a decision many families make without good guidance.
We address all of it: a tutor who knows the IB inside out, teaches the concepts so they stick, guides the IA properly, and helps you make the right course and level choice for your child's strengths and university plans.
Concepts first, then communication and exam technique.
Exactly what the IB grade descriptors actually reward.
Get the right course & level
We help confirm AA vs AI and SL vs HL for your child's strengths and university pathway — a decision that matters.
Build genuine understanding
We teach why each result is true, so your child can interpret and justify, not just apply — the heart of IB assessment.
Support the IA exploration
From topic choice to mathematical depth to the assessment criteria, we guide the 20% IA — your child's own work, done well.
Coach GDC & exam papers
Efficient calculator use and Paper 1, 2 and (HL) Paper 3 practice, building the technique and timing the IB rewards.
Why logarithms turn multiplication into addition.
What gets memorised: "log(ab) = log a + log b." IB students apply this log law constantly and often can't say why it's true — so they misapply it and lose marks, and the deeper idea behind logarithms stays hidden.
How we do it. A logarithm just asks "what power gives this number?" And powers already turn multiplication into addition — because multiplying powers of the same base means adding the exponents. Watch:
log is the reverse question: log₁₀(10⁵) = 5 = 2 + 3
= log₁₀(10²) + log₁₀(10³)
so log(a × b) = log a + log b
The log law isn't a rule to memorise — it's just the exponent rule (multiply means add powers) seen from the other direction. Once an IB student understands this, the whole family of log laws becomes obvious, and they grasp why logarithms matter: they convert hard multiplication problems into easy addition, which is the foundation of everything from pH and decibels to the AI models reshaping the world. That depth of understanding is precisely what HL and the IA reward.
IB Maths and computer science reward the same kind of mind.
Model & interpret
AI is built around modelling real situations — exactly what a programmer does. We teach the interpretation the IB grades, not just the calculation.
Reason and justify
An IB justification and a correctness argument in code are the same skill: saying clearly why a claim holds.
Build from primitives
AA's proof and structure mirror how software is built from small, well-understood parts.
We're Modern Age Coders, built around real coding and AI. The IB's emphasis on understanding, modelling and communication is exactly the thinking we teach for programming — which is why IB students who learn maths our way are also superbly prepared for the computational, data-driven world they're heading into.
The full IB Maths courses, plus the IA.
AA and AI, SL and HL, taught to your child's exact option.
Number & algebra
Sequences and series, exponents and logarithms, the binomial theorem, and (HL) proof, complex numbers and systems.
Functions
Linear, quadratic, exponential, logarithmic and rational functions, transformations, and modelling.
Geometry & trigonometry
Trig functions and identities, the unit circle, triangle problems, and (HL) vectors.
Calculus
Differentiation and integration and their applications — a major part of AA, and the applied calculus of AI.
Statistics & probability
Data, distributions, the normal and binomial models, and the heavier statistical focus of AI.
The Internal Assessment
Topic choice, mathematical depth, personal engagement, and the assessment criteria for the 20% exploration.
The right fit — and an honest word on what to expect.
This fits the IB student struggling with the pace or a specific topic, the one stuck on their IA, and the strong student chasing a 6 or 7 for a competitive university. We also help MYP students preparing to choose AA or AI.
What's realistic. Conceptual clarity often comes within a few weeks; a grade improvement and a strong IA track the months of steady work between sessions. We'll set an honest target around your child's level and timeline, and never guarantee a 7.
What we won't do
- Write your child's IA for them.
- Teach methods with no concept underneath.
- Guarantee a specific IB grade.
- Push a course or level that doesn't fit your child.

Tutors who know the IB inside out.
IB Maths needs a tutor who genuinely understands the course — the AA/AI distinction, the grade descriptors, the IA criteria, the GDC, the paper structure — not just the maths. Ours have that, and the patience to teach for understanding rather than rushing to an answer.
The same tutor stays through the course, so by exam season they know exactly which topics and which IA aspects still need work.
"AA HL had completely overwhelmed her, and the IA was stalled. Her tutor rebuilt the calculus properly and guided the exploration — she finished with a 6 and a place at her first-choice university."
— Parent of an IB Diploma student, Dubai
How we differ from the alternatives.
| What matters | Modern Age Coders | General tutor | Revision videos |
|---|---|---|---|
| Knows AA/AI & the IB system | Yes, deeply | Not always | Generic |
| Supports the IA exploration | Yes, properly | Rarely | No |
| Teaches understanding | Always | Varies | Sometimes |
| Coaches GDC & papers | Yes | Varies | Limited |
| Monthly price | $100 / ≈AED 370 (1:1) | AED 1,500–4,000+ | Free–AED 150 |
A general tutor may not know the IB's specific demands; videos can't guide an IA. We combine deep IB knowledge with one-to-one teaching, online, at sensible value.
Everything you might be wondering.
Do you tutor both IB Maths AA and AI?
Yes — Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation, at both SL and HL.
What's the difference between AA and AI, and which should my child take?
AA is more algebraic and proof-focused (maths, engineering, physics pathways); AI is more applied and data-focused (social sciences, business, design). We can assess and advise honestly.
Can you help with the IB Maths IA (exploration)?
Yes — topic choice, mathematical depth, writing and the assessment criteria for the 20% IA, without ever writing it for your child.
Do you coach the GDC and exam papers?
Yes — efficient calculator use and Paper 1, 2 and (HL) Paper 3 practice.
How much does it cost?
USD 100/month (about AED 370) for 1:1 — eight live sessions, two a week. Small-group option USD 40/month. No contract.
Is the first session free?
Yes — no card needed.
Will my child keep the same tutor?
Yes — one IB-experienced tutor through the course.
What times are lessons available?
After-school, evening and weekend slots in Gulf Standard Time (UTC+4).
