With the date written the way most people write dates, it printed 0. A dash sorts before any digit, so "2026-10-21" counts as earlier than "20261009" and falls before every start date. ### Why the = matters f'{date=}' prints date='2026-10-21', quotes included. The quotes show it is a string, and the name shows which variable it is. ### What Norwood really has With the right format, the 29 stop records inside Norwood had 2,664 scheduled visits on 30 routes that Wednesday. ### A habit, not a trick When a result is surprising, print the inputs next to the output before changing any code. Here the input was wrong, not the logic, and rewriting the counting code would have wasted an afternoon. The timetable is Adelaide Metro open data (feed version 1708). Parsing both dates into datetime.date objects would remove the problem entirely. Debug printing finds the bug quickly; proper types stop it coming back.
