The sum of 54 divided by 8 is 6.75, but the code has invented two completed observations. ### The observed mean is 9.0 Six completed shifts contain valid results totalling 54. Dividing 54 by 6 gives 9.0 observations per completed shift. ### Coverage is 75 percent Six usable results exist for eight scheduled shifts. The mean is reported beside 6/8 coverage and two missing-reason fields, not as a complete-period figure. ### A measured zero stays zero Day 3 morning was completed and returned no qualifying event. Excluding that zero would bias the result upward, just as inventing zeros for missing shifts biases it downward. ### Nulls remain queryable The analyst can count missing rows, group reasons, request recovery and compare complete-case results with a justified sensitivity model. ### No default imputation Imputation requires assumptions about why data is missing. A silent fill operation is not a statistical method and cannot be hidden in data cleaning.
