It keeps the regional administrative role distinct from Duqm's city and economic-zone context. ### Separate wali leadership The current [government portal](https://gov.om/en/al-wusta-governorate) lists separate wali leadership for all four wilayats. ### Density was 0.8 people per square kilometre The [NCSI Statistical Year Book 2026](https://api.ncsi.gov.om/uploads/pdfs/statistical_year_book_2026___issue_54_1777963604.pdf) reports this 2025 value, the lowest among Oman's governorates. ### Population was 64,024 The same table gives this 2025 population and a statistical-use area estimate of 82,471 square kilometres. Its note says area is estimated for statistics, not boundary use. ### Alternative hyphenation Al-Wusta is a common English hyphenation. This guide keeps Al Wusta in visible headings and the fixed al-wusta slug in its canonical URL. Sparse does not mean analytically simple A small regional count can yield a perfectly correct rate that changes sharply when one record is added. Numerator, denominator, uncertainty and decision threshold must remain visible. Al Jazir ## A biodiversity count retains survey scope Dated field evidence illustrates the difference between a reported finding and a general regional total. ### Three creeks were emphasised An [Oman News Agency report](https://omannews.gov.om/topics/en/136/show/123510) dated 27 July 2025 names Khor Ghawi, Khor Qaised and Khor Ghadisir in coastal bird surveys. ### More than 60 species were reported ONA says the year's target-area surveys found more than 60 resident, migratory and rare bird species. This is a scoped survey finding. ### Purpose included environmental databases The report says the work supports biodiversity monitoring, environmental status analysis and updated environmental information. ### Coast, hills and desert meet An [ONA profile](https://omannews.gov.om/topics/en/136/show/115723) dated 1 February 2024 describes Al Jazir's coastal land, craggy hills and desert landscape. ### Several development sites were named The profile refers to Al Jazir Public Park, Ras Souqra Development Project and Al Lakbi Beach waterfront as projects then being implemented. ### Fifteen agreements were signed across Al Wusta An [ONA report](https://omannews.gov.om/topics/en/136/show/123476) dated 23 July 2025 describes 15 development agreements and names projects in Haima, Mahout and Al Jazir. ### Duqm details stay on the city guide This page includes Duqm in the administrative structure but hands detailed city and economic-zone context to the linked Duqm coding classes guide. The defect begins when the shift is overinterpreted. ### One record caused the full swing With a denominator of 100, every added or removed qualifying record changes the rate by one percentage point. ### Relative change sounds larger The rise from 4 to 5 percent is a 25 percent relative increase, even though only one fictional record changed. ### Percentage points are not percent The absolute rate difference is one percentage point. Calling it a one percent increase would describe a different calculation. ### Correct is not stable A classification correction, delayed record or random fluctuation can produce the same movement. Trend language needs more evidence. ### Counts remain visible The report leads with 4 of 100 and 5 of 100, then supplies the rates and a volatility warning. The report still retains raw period counts and explains the pooling. ### Show uncertainty An interval or model can quantify sampling uncertainty when its assumptions fit. It does not repair biased collection or mismatched eligibility. ### Check denominator drift Stable denominators here simplify the lesson. Real comparisons verify eligibility definitions, coverage and missingness across periods. ### Avoid news language The class does not call one synthetic record a surge, collapse, success or failure.
