Rolling entry is inherent to a zone whose whole purpose is to attract new arrivals. ### A term measured in decades Among the incentives is a 30-year income tax exemption. A term that long guarantees that the first cohort and the latest one will never share an expiry, and that most people quoting it will not be around when it matters. ### Two ways in from Yemen There are two main border crossings, Shahan into Al Mazyunah in the north and Hawf into Sarfait in the south. Two entry points is two streams of records that have to be reconciled before anything is counted once. A term is a length and an expiry is a date Thirty years is a property of the scheme. The year it runs out is a property of each agreement, and the two get written into the same sentence constantly. Once an expiry is stored as a constant, every later arrival inherits a deadline that was never theirs. Verified local facts ## Al Mazyunah facts with a trail behind them Each claim traced, with terms and dates kept apart. ### A zone established in 1999 The Al Mazunah Free Zone was established in 1999 in the Dhofar region near the border with Yemen. That is the zone's start date and it is not any individual investor's start date. ### Fifteen million square metres The zone spans 15 million square metres. A figure given in square metres at that scale is technically exact and hard to picture, which is worth noticing on a page about numbers that are correct and unhelpful. ### Thirty years of exemption The incentives include a 30-year income tax exemption with no requirement for income declarations. The term is published; no expiry date is, because there is no single one to publish. ### Twenty per cent Omanisation The zone operates a reduced Omanisation rate of 20 per cent. A rate is a property of the scheme that genuinely does apply to everybody, which is the useful contrast with the exemption term. ### Crossings north and south The two main border crossings are Shahan into Al Mazyunah in the north and Hawf into Sarfait in the south. Named crossings are checkable facts about a border that is otherwise hard to describe. ### A gateway for transit trade The zone is described as a major Gulf gateway for transit trade to Yemen and onward to East Africa. Goods passing through belong to no local total, which is its own counting problem. Modern Age Coders has no involvement in the free zone, its incentives or any company operating there, and claims none. Al Mazyunah is used here because a long fixed term with rolling entry is the plainest case of a date that belongs to a row rather than to a table. Signature project ## Twenty twenty nine, correct for one company in eight Everybody has the same thirty years. Almost nobody has the same deadline, and one number gets written down. ### 1. Note the term, not the date The zone opened in 1999 and the exemption runs for thirty years. Those are the two published facts. The eight joining years used below are illustrative, spread across the zone's life to show the shape of the problem, and the page says so. ### 2. Compute the obvious expiry Nineteen ninety nine plus thirty is 2029. It is arithmetic nobody would query, it appears in a briefing note, and from that point on it is the date everybody uses. ### 3. Compute each company's own expiry A company joining in 2011 is exempt to 2041. One joining in 2024 is exempt to 2054. That means the forecast gets worse precisely as the programme gets more successful, and the people who wrote the original note are long gone by the time anybody notices. Every figure above was computed before this was written. The child marks where each ends and sees eight different answers to one question. No screen is required. ### For teenagers The eight joining years in Python, each expiry derived from its own start, printed beside the single quoted date with the error in a third column. The learner then writes the check that flags any expiry stored as a literal rather than derived. ### For adults Agreements store a start and a term, expiries are always derived, comparisons are made on time since joining rather than on calendar year, and exposure is reported as a range of dates rather than as one. The zone's establishment in 1999, the area of 15 million square metres, the 30-year income tax exemption, the 20 per cent Omanisation rate and the crossings at Shahan and Hawf into Sarfait are published. The eight joining years are illustrative, chosen to spread across the zone's life, and that is stated in the every place they occur says so. What the exercise demonstrates belongs to any fixed term with rolling entry and does not rest on these particular years. Teaching that arrives over a connection can reach a place like this long before any institution is built in it. ### Nothing charged for the first lesson A complete class with a real task, closing on a specific recommendation. No card is requested to book it and nothing is committed to until a teacher has been watched working. ### Groups of five to eight, matched on level Cohorts form on what a learner can do and where they are heading, not on which side of a border they were born. In a trade zone that distinction matters. ### When a group is simply the wrong shape Private tuition puts one teacher with one learner, which is what a fixed examination date or a single stubborn weakness usually calls for. ### Roughly eight sessions a month The pattern is twice weekly, and the time is chosen once at enrolment. Shifts at the crossing move; the slot does not have to. ### Ninety minutes of difference, once Oman runs that far behind India and it is settled at the outset, along with school terms, shift patterns, examination weeks and Ramadan. A date that is wrong by twenty five years still looks like a date Nothing about 2029 in a cell suggests it was inherited from a scheme rather than derived from an agreement. What exposes it is a teacher asking whose thirty years that is, and then waiting while the learner checks the second row. The Al Mazunah Free Zone was established in 1999, spans 15 million square metres, offers a 30-year income tax exemption and a reduced Omanisation rate of 20 per cent, and sits near crossings at Shahan and at Hawf into Sarfait. Because a shared expiry taken from the scheme's own opening is always too early and never too late, and the gap grows with every year the scheme keeps admitting entrants.
