## Nine wilayats now define Ad Dakhiliyah

Current administration and the central plateau establish the model's geographic scope.

Oman's [Governorates System](https://bur.gov.om/assets/pdf/en/governorate-system.pdf) lists Nizwa, Bahla, Manah, Al Hamra, Adam, Izki, Samail, Bidbid and Jabal Al Akhdar.

The same official system identifies Nizwa as the governorate centre. This page links to the city guide rather than repeating it.

### Current leadership is separate

The [government portal](https://gov.om/en/ad-dakhiliyah-%E2%80%8Dgovernorate) lists wali leadership for Bahla, Manah, Adam, Izki, Samail and the other wilayats.

### Sunday to Thursday administration

The portal publishes a Sunday-through-Thursday office week in Nizwa. Those hours do not define live class availability.

### Interior plateau and regional links

Oman's [Foreign Ministry guide](https://www.fm.gov.om/en/about-oman/state/oman-by-region/) describes A'Dakhiliyah as a central plateau and a land link from Muscat to interior regions.

### Approximate regional scale

The guide gives an approximate 31,900 square kilometres and names mountains, caves, springs and valleys. The alternative spelling A'Dakhiliyah appears here once; this page otherwise uses Ad Dakhiliyah.

A midpoint calculation contains a model assumption

Averaging two endpoint values assumes a straight relationship and a correctly placed midpoint. The code must test both assumptions before it publishes an interpolated value.

ONA publishes this approximate distance for Manah. It is not a road-time or class-access guarantee.

### Several heritage sites

The profile names Al Faiqain Castle, Al Bilad Castle and sites in Ma'mad and Al Maadi.

### Two springs are named

ONA identifies Ayn Al Bilad and Ayn Al Ma'iyah. A named water feature does not provide an unsourced measurement surface.

### More than 13 aflaj estimated

The official profile gives this estimate. The approximate nature and feature definition belong beside the value.

### Adam remains a separate wilayat

The current government portal lists its own wali. A model should not fill Adam from Manah merely because they share a boundary.

The same official index separately lists Sama in Bahla. A repeated programme family does not make two project geometries interchangeable.

## The mountain midpoint that missed the measured curve

A synthetic Jebel Akhdar transect separates neat endpoint arithmetic from supported interpolation.

### 1. Average the endpoints

The bottom synthetic sensor reads 33.0 units at 600 metres and the top reads 17.0 at 2,200 metres. Their average is 25.0.

### 2. Check the actual middle sensor

The elevation midpoint is 1,400 metres, where the synthetic observation is 28.0 units. The endpoint line misses it by 3.0.

### 3. Model the observed shape

Intermediate points show a curved relationship. The learner compares justified piecewise and smooth models using held-out validation.

### Halfway in elevation is not proof of halfway in value

The straight line fits its two construction points perfectly because it was defined by them. Its error appears only when the intermediate sensors are inspected. A two-point fit cannot validate its own shape.

Every elevation and value in the table is invented for teaching. It is not an official Jebel Akhdar observation, forecast, survey or recommendation.

### Plot before fitting

A scatter plot reveals curvature, clusters, gaps and outliers that disappear inside a single endpoint formula.

### Elevation may be insufficient

Slope, aspect, position, time and exposure can matter. A one-dimensional model should state what it omits.

### Do not reward smoothness alone

A visually smooth curve can overfit sparse points. Validation error matters more than appearance.

### Separate interpolation and extrapolation

Predicting between supported values differs from extending beyond the measured range. The interface labels both.

### Preserve measured points

Model output never overwrites observations. Each displayed value says whether it was measured or estimated.
