## Western Canada Grade 12 Math: Pre-calculus 12 and Math 30-1

*A second teacher for Grade 12 math in British Columbia and Alberta: functions, logarithms, trigonometry and counting understood properly, in step with your school course.*

Pre-calculus 12 is one of the Grade 12 courses on British Columbia's mathematics course list, beside Foundations of Mathematics 12 and Calculus 12. In Alberta, Mathematics 30-1 is one of the courses with a provincial diploma exam, and the diploma exam counts for a large share of the final mark. Alberta's diploma exams overview says "The weighting of diploma exams returned to 30% effective September 1, 2023." and "70% of the final mark comes from course work. The remaining 30% comes from the diploma exam." Alberta's provincial achievement tests page adds that "students write diploma exams and provincial achievement tests in a digital environment rather than pencil and paper".

This course runs alongside the student's own Pre-calculus 12 or Math 30-1 class, and we follow the order of the student's school course outline so what is learned here is used in class the same week. What our course teaches: functions and their transformations, including inverses; polynomial, radical and rational functions; exponential and logarithmic functions; trigonometry in radians, with identities and equations; and permutations, combinations and the binomial theorem. Every topic starts from meaning, with graphs and small examples, before the algebra. For Alberta students we add exam technique for the Math 30-1 diploma exam, practised on screen; for BC students we prepare for the school's own unit tests and final exam. Tests and assignments stay the student's own work: we explain, question and review, and the student does the math.

Please read this plainly: Modern Age Coders teaches alongside school and does not grant high school credits in British Columbia, Alberta or any other province. Families who need the credit take the course through their school or an approved provider. What we add is understanding, practice and confidence, in live classes with a real teacher. We make no promise of marks or diploma exam results.

**What Makes This Different:**

- Built for BC Pre-calculus 12 and Alberta Math 30-1 students, following the student's own school course outline week by week
- Meaning before algebra: graphs, tables and small examples come first, then the rules
- Exam technique for the Alberta Math 30-1 diploma exam, which counts for 30% of the final mark, practised on screen
- Honest about credits: we teach alongside school and do not grant high school credits
- Tests and assignments stay the student's own work: we explain and review, we never do school work for them
- A mistakes list and timed review papers, so revision targets what each student actually gets wrong

## Faqs

**Question:** Does this course give my child a high school credit in BC or Alberta?

**Answer:** No. Modern Age Coders teaches alongside school and does not grant high school credits in British Columbia, Alberta or any other province. A family who needs the Pre-calculus 12 or Math 30-1 credit takes the course through the student's school or an approved provider. Our course helps the student understand and do well in the school course they are already taking.

**Question:** Which courses is this for?

**Answer:** Pre-calculus 12 in British Columbia, which is on BC's mathematics course list, and Mathematics 30-1 in Alberta, which is on Alberta's list of diploma exam courses. Both are Grade 12 courses heavy in functions, so we teach them together while following each student's own school course outline.

**Question:** What topics does the course teach?

**Answer:** Functions and transformations, including inverses; polynomial, radical and rational functions; exponential and logarithmic functions; trigonometry in radians, with identities and equations; and permutations, combinations and the binomial theorem, plus combining functions. Your school's course outline gives the exact list and order for your class, and we follow it.

**Question:** How much is the Math 30-1 diploma exam worth?

**Answer:** Alberta's diploma exams overview says "The weighting of diploma exams returned to 30% effective September 1, 2023." and "70% of the final mark comes from course work. The remaining 30% comes from the diploma exam." Mathematics 30-1 is one of the diploma exam courses on that page.

**Question:** Do you prepare Alberta students for the Math 30-1 diploma exam?

**Answer:** Yes, alongside their school course. We teach the mathematics, then exam technique: pacing, checking and timed practice papers with careful review. Alberta says "students write diploma exams and provincial achievement tests in a digital environment rather than pencil and paper", so some practice is done on screen. Exam schedules can change, so we read Alberta's current diploma exam information with each student. We make no promise of marks or results.

**Question:** What comes after Pre-calculus 12?

**Answer:** BC's mathematics course list also includes Calculus 12, and many university programs in science, engineering and computer science build on pre-calculus. The functions, logarithms and trigonometry in this course are exactly what calculus uses. Always check each university's current admission page for its own requirements.

**Question:** Does the course follow my school's order?

**Answer:** Yes. Schools order the units differently, so we use the student's own course outline and next test date to set the pace. The plan on this page shows our standard sequence, and each batch follows the order of its students' schools as closely as possible.

**Question:** Will you do my child's assignments or tests?

**Answer:** No. School work stays the student's own. We explain concepts, ask questions, review work the student has written and suggest how to improve it, and we follow the school's rules on outside help. That is also the only kind of help that lasts into the exam room.

**Question:** Can my child join partway through the school year?

**Answer:** Yes, the course is joinable any month. We start from the student's current unit and next test, fill gaps from earlier units as needed, and keep pace with the school course from then on.

**Question:** How are the classes run?

**Answer:** Live online classes, twice a week, with a real teacher, in a group of 15 to 20 students, a mini batch of up to 6, or 1-on-1. Weekdays or weekends, flexible: choose your batch, or for a very personalised plan choose 1-on-1 at your convenience, weekend mornings or weekdays. Current fees for your region are shown in the pricing section of this page.

**Question:** Can we try a class first?

**Answer:** Yes. Book a free demo class. The teacher looks at where your child is in Pre-calculus 12 or Math 30-1, works through a short problem with them, and suggests whether group, mini batch or 1-on-1 classes fit best. There is no obligation to enrol.

**Question:** Can I watch how you teach before enrolling in this course?

**Answer:** Yes. Full recordings of real, unedited classes for ages 13 and up are free to watch: Free to watch. No payment, no card, just a quick Google sign-in. These recordings show how we teach, not the exact syllabus of this course. Some classes are in English and some in Hindi; everyone follows at their own pace. Watch a class end to end, like you are in it. Sessions are interactive and each moment builds on the last.

**Question:** Can I enroll without a live demo?

**Answer:** Yes. Choose a plan on this page and enrol directly. A demo is optional: if you would like to see a full class with a mentor first, book a Priority Demo, a live class of about 45 to 60 minutes. Questions: WhatsApp +91 91233 66161 or email connect@modernagecoders.com.
