## Mathematik-Olympiade and Känguru Training in English

*Quick thinking for the Känguru and careful written proofs for the Mathematik-Olympiade, by Klassenstufe, live and in English, with a mentor who matches your pace and accent.*

This is a live online course for pupils in Germany, roughly ages 8 to 18, who want to train for the two biggest school maths competitions: the Mathematik-Olympiade (MO) and the Känguru der Mathematik. Batches are grouped by Klassenstufe (3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10 and 11 to 13), the same bands the Känguru uses, so every problem fits the pupil's school year.

Classes are live and taught in English only. The mentor matches each pupil's pace and accent: speaks clearly, slows down, rephrases and checks understanding. A pupil whose first language is German gets competition training and English practice in the same class, and explaining a solution aloud in English is a strong test of whether it is truly understood. We never teach in German, but our notes put the German term beside the English one (Teiler and divisor, Primzahl and prime number, Beweis and proof).

The two competitions train different strengths. The Känguru is a single 75-minute paper: its organisers say pupils solve 24 problems in Klassenstufe 3/4 and 5/6, and 30 problems in 7/8, 9/10 and 11 to 13. Over 920,000 pupils from more than 13,000 schools took part on 19 March 2026, and the 2027 Känguru takes place exceptionally on 8 April 2027, with online registration from 1 December 2026 to 31 January 2027. The Mathematik-Olympiade asks for full written solutions. The MO site says about 200,000 pupils take part each year; it runs in three rounds for Klassenstufe 5 to 7 and four rounds from Klassenstufe 8, and is offered to primary schools (Klasse 3 and 4) since 2005. For the 66th MO in 2026/27 it lists the Regionalrunde on 11 November 2026, the Landesrunde from 26 to 28 February 2027 and the Bundesrunde from 30 May to 2 June 2027 in Kaiserslautern; check your own Land's MO page, as arrangements can differ.

So the course trains both: fast, accurate reasoning and smart elimination for the Känguru, and clear, complete written arguments in number theory, combinatorics, algebra and geometry for the MO. Every problem is our own, written in each competition's style; we never reproduce real MO or Känguru problems. We are independent of the Mathematik-Olympiaden e.V., the Känguru organisers and every other organiser, we are not an official partner of any competition, and entries are made through schools or the organisers, never through us.

**What Makes This Different:**

- Live classes in English only, with a mentor who matches your pace and accent: explaining a solution aloud in English proves it is understood
- Batches by Klassenstufe (3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10, 11 to 13), so every problem fits the pupil's school year
- Two skills trained side by side: 75-minute speed and elimination for the Känguru, full written proofs for the Mathematik-Olympiade
- Every written solution marked with comments, because MO rounds reward complete justification, not just the answer
- Timed around the 2026/27 calendar: MO Regionalrunde in November 2026, Landesrunde in February 2027, Känguru on 8 April 2027
- Original problems only, and honest about what we are: independent, not an official partner of any competition

### Learning Path

## Faqs

**Question:** What is the Mathematik-Olympiade and Känguru course?

**Answer:** A live online maths competition course for pupils in Germany aged roughly 8 to 18, taught in English, with batches by Klassenstufe. It trains fast reasoning for the Känguru der Mathematik and full written solutions for the Mathematik-Olympiade, using only our own original problems. It runs for 24 weeks with 2 live classes a week.

**Question:** Are the classes in German or in English?

**Answer:** English only. We never teach in German. The mentor matches your pace and accent: speaks clearly, slows down, rephrases and checks understanding. Many families see this as a plus: competition maths and English practice in one class. Our notes put the German maths term beside the English one.

**Question:** When is the Känguru der Mathematik 2027?

**Answer:** The organisers say the 2027 Känguru takes place exceptionally in April, on 8 April 2027, because the usual date in March falls just before the Easter holidays in almost all Länder. Online registration runs from 1 December 2026 to 31 January 2027. Normally the Känguru is on the third Thursday in March.

**Question:** How does the Känguru work?

**Answer:** It is an individual competition of 75 minutes. Pupils solve 24 problems in Klassenstufe 3/4 and 5/6, and 30 problems in 7/8, 9/10 and 11 to 13. In 2026 over 920,000 pupils from more than 13,000 schools took part.

**Question:** What are the Mathematik-Olympiade dates for 2026/27?

**Answer:** For the 66th MO, mathe-wettbewerbe.de lists the school round up to October 2026, the Regionalrunde on 11 November 2026, the Landesrunde from 26 to 28 February 2027 and the Bundesrunde from 30 May to 2 June 2027 in Kaiserslautern. Check your own Land's MO page, as arrangements can differ.

**Question:** How many rounds does the MO have?

**Answer:** The MO site says it runs in three rounds for Klassenstufe 5 to 7 and in four rounds from Klassenstufe 8; for Klasse 3 to 7 it ends at the Landesrunde. The Bundesrunde invites teams of up to 15 pupils from Klassenstufe 8 from every Land.

**Question:** Do you use real MO or Känguru problems?

**Answer:** No. Every problem in the course is our own, written in each competition's style. Pupils can work through past problems the organisers publish themselves; we never copy them into our materials.

**Question:** Are you an official partner of the Mathematik-Olympiade or the Känguru?

**Answer:** No. We are an independent online school with teachers in India and are not connected to the Mathematik-Olympiaden e.V., the Känguru organisers or any other organiser. Entries are made through schools or the organisers, never through us.

**Question:** My child is 8. Is that too young?

**Answer:** No. The Känguru starts at Klassenstufe 3 and the MO has been offered to primary schools since 2005. Our youngest batch is Klassenstufe 3/4, with problems pitched to that level.

**Question:** Will this help with school maths?

**Answer:** Usually, yes, because competition training builds careful reading, number sense and clear written reasoning. But the course goes beyond the school book rather than following it. For school maths support, see our other maths courses.

**Question:** When are classes, with the time difference to India?

**Answer:** Timing is flexible on weekdays or weekends: choose a batch, or 1-on-1 at your convenience. Our teachers work in India time, which is 4 hours 30 minutes ahead of Germany in winter and 3 hours 30 minutes ahead in summer, so German afternoon, early evening and weekend slots are realistic.

**Question:** Do you promise a prize?

**Answer:** No. We promise careful teaching, honest written feedback and lots of practice. Results depend on the pupil and the competition. The first class is a free demo, so you can decide with no pressure.

**Question:** Can I watch how you teach before enrolling in this course?

**Answer:** Yes. Full recordings of real, unedited classes for ages 13 and up are free to watch: Free to watch. No payment, no card, just a quick Google sign-in. These recordings show how we teach, not the exact syllabus of this course. Some classes are in English and some in Hindi; everyone follows at their own pace. Watch a class end to end, like you are in it. Sessions are interactive and each moment builds on the last.

**Question:** Can I enroll without a live demo?

**Answer:** Yes. Choose a plan on this page and enrol directly. A demo is optional: if you would like to see a full class with a mentor first, book a Priority Demo, a live class of about 45 to 60 minutes. Questions: WhatsApp +91 91233 66161 or email connect@modernagecoders.com.
